- Colorado Fire (book #2)

When love sneaks up on you, shoot for the heart.
Billy Bradford has a secret, and it’s bigger than the fact that he’s an assassin. When Tucker Hayes, Billy’s straight best friend, is injured on a mission, Billy acts in haste, kissing Tucker. Shocked by the act, Tucker runs. But desire is stronger than convictions, leading Tucker to hunt down Billy.
The other guys on the ranch are oblivious to Tucker and Billy’s actions as they investigate a new target. Grant Stovall is hung up on his ex, but Roger Burk, their new operative, catches his attention and one small touch isn’t enough.
Meet the cowboys of Wild Bluff Ranch in the first book of the Colorado Heart Series, Colorado Wild.
So what did I think?
Wild Bluff Ranch is full of strong, tough and gorgeous military types, handpicked to form part of an elite and secret organisation. They take on missions to rid the world of the bad guys, missions that bypass ordinarily rules and go under the radar of the usual government organisations.
I loved the action and the multiple characters with a couple of relationships simmering at the same time. Billy and Tucker had a nice story – nothing like a near-death experience to bring people together! – but it is Grant’s story that forms a focus.
Grant has been deserted by the man he loved, with no hint as to what went wrong but he is temped by newcomer Roger. There is a bit of cliffhanger ending and you need to read the second book to find out the end of Grant’s story.
You need to suspend the disbelief that a high proportion of these elite military men are gay or bi, and just accept that Wild Bluff Ranch is a totally hot place to be!
Note: After the ending, the second book is introduced as Colorado Heat but it is actually Colorado Fire.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
Marshal has it bad, but can he figure it out before he ruins his relationship with his best friend, or will he mess up the one good thing in his life.
Zander doesn’t know if he’s coming or going. Life at Wild Bluff has been easy up until now. His head is spinning and his heart is aching. Can he figure out Marshal’s mess before it puts them both in hot water?
Grant Stovall is in too deep. Should he turn to or away from Roger Burk? If only the answers were easy, and he could be sure. Craig is back in town, ready to serve a burn notice, destroying everything the men of Wild Bluff hold dear.
So what did I think?
In this follow up to Colorado Wild, Roger and Grant get their HFN ending and a Zander and Marshal become a focus.
There is lots of action with Roger on a mission and Craig (Grant’s ex) out to get them all at Wild Bluff Ranch. There are shootings, bashings, bombs and fires!
I am hoping there will be more books in the series – maybe Duff’s son (there were hints he may have some secrets) or the local firefighter/paramedic who stumbled on some of the ranch secrets? Please?
I can’t believe this book was only $0.99 at ARe and is still only $0.89 at Amazon.
