The blurb…

With a beautiful, doting fiancée and a dream job at one of New York City’s top law firms, life is going well for ambitious but inexperienced attorney, Ryan Paullson. Handpicked by his new boss, Joseph Van Aardt, to work on the firm’s biggest case, Ryan soon finds himself out of his depth and struggling with a dangerous and irresistible attraction to the charismatic and ruthless Van Aardt—an attraction that seems mutual.

Ryan and Joseph begin a secret affair as they work to build their case against controversial billionaire Jack McNeil. As their affair heats up, Ryan starts to fear how far Joseph is willing to go to win the case, and when two critical witnesses die under suspicious circumstances, Ryan doesn’t know whether to suspect McNeil or his lover. He wants to be with Joseph; he just doesn’t know how far he’ll have to go–or how far he’ll have to fall–to hold onto him.

So what did Robyn think?

IF I COULD GIVE THIS 6 STARS I WOULD

F*ck that was good. Ok, so if you didn’t see my Goodreads status updates and can’t tell by the above comment – THIS is my book of the YEAR.  I’m confident enough in this read to say this only six months into 2014. I don’t think I’ll find another to top this for the rest of the year. Big statement I know.

If you don’t like cheaters then this may not be the read for you.  Although in saying this the cheating aspect was done well and I can forgive Ryan for this because he was in denial about his sexuality. Still, Daisy didn’t really deserve what she got and her revenge was pretty sweet.

Joseph – well lets just say he’s a lawyer. He’s shady and slippery and a total tosspot, BUT he does redeem himself at the very end, just.

The drama was twisty and turny and totally spun my head around – then spun it right back at the end. I had my hands over my mouth, eyes wide and making weird noises and the men in my household (3 of them) are all like “whats wrong??, whats happened?? did you hurt yourself? are you okay??” But they don’t get it. My eldest (9) – just walked off shaking his head – “don’t worry, it’s just mum being all weird over a book – again!” Hmph – they just don’t get it.

There wasn’t a lot of romance and most of the sex was under the covers. For some reason though this didn’t bother me as much as any other story would have. This is probably because the author has a talent here that I’ve never seen before in a first timer.

Its just a brilliant read. There is a sort of HFN here but it kinda finishes on a cliffy. I emailed the author and she said that a sequel is a possibility as she would like to see where Ryan and Joseph go, but her day job is extremely busy at the moment and she doesn’t have time right now. Thats not to say we won’t get one. If I could afford to pay her a wage just to write a sequel I would, gladly. I need more from this author – like yesterday!

If you don’t read this right now – you may just regret leaving it so long.

Bravo Miss Bond. Bravo.

5 MASSIVE stars

Hope you enjoy – Robyn x
