Bodyguard To A Sex God (Bodyguards Inc. #1) Bodyguard To A Sex God by RJ Scott

The blurb…

Bodyguard Adam Freeman draws what everyone else thinks is the short straw at the convention for a procedural cop show – as bodyguard to TV actor Logan Brady. Or as the Internet has labelled him, Logan ‘Sex God’ Brady. Logan is taking part in a convention at a London Hotel for his show ‘Night Cop’ and someone is threatening his life. Adam gets more than he bargained for when his client combines coming out of the closet with them both trying to stay alive.

So what did I think?

Given the recent release of the second book in this series The Ex Factor, I figured I’d better read this one – and what a treat – two great books to read in a row! I thoroughly enjoyed this story with its combination of sexy bodyguard and television star. Adam is an ex-cop who’s not looking forward to having to watch over pretty-boy, Logan, when he visits London to attend a fan convention for his vampire television show. Logan has stalker. It sounds a fairly standard plot but it had many things going for it. The main characters were wonderful and quite open about their feelings which was refreshing. There is not a lot of angst between the characters but they are definitely affected by a number of issues including Logan’s closeted sexuality and Adam’s desire to remain professional. The secondary characters were interesting (please give us a story about Ross and Kyle) and the drama was just enough. With a good pace, lot’s happening and likable characters, it’s a page turner and this book definitely set the scene for a great series! 4 stars.

The Ex Factor (Bodyguards Inc. #2)

The Ex Factor By RJ Scott

The blurb…

When Bodyguard, Ben Collins, finds Daniel Lincoln in a room, hiding and hurt, he doesn’t immediately think Daniel is the victim of abuse. Daniel is good at pretending and being a finalist in a TV singing competition he seems like he has it made. But something about Daniel calls to Ben’s need to protect and he hands Daniel a card to contact him if ever Daniel needed help. Abruptly, after one frightened phone call from Daniel, Ben is racing to Daniel’s aid and what he finds is a horror he can’t imagine. Daniel is trapped in a relationship where anger and controlling hate are the only emotions he is given. When his boyfriend crosses the line and leaves Daniel vulnerable and broken there is only one man that he wants to call. The sexy bodyguard who promised he could help him.

So what did I think?

The Ex Factor was a great continuation of the Bodyguards Inc series. I think I particularly enjoyed it because I was drawn in by the abuse theme and appreciated the way it was handled. The other thing I appreciated was the setting and relevance to current time. Ben is working security for a reality talent show and there are references to the contestants and the panel of judges. It all felt very familiar. Daniel is a contestant on the show, who has worked his way into the finals. But for all his success with his music, he is not a happy man due to his long term abusive boyfriend. Luckily he has Ben to turn to. I loved Ben and the way his protective instinct kicked in but more than that, I loved his own vulnerability.

“The men he slept with were within him for his size and his muscles. That wasn’t him being prideful, that was just what they told him. Not one of them actually wanted to talk to him, and only a couple actually wanted to kiss. Ben had top written all over him, but sometimes, just every so often, he wanted something outside the definition placed on him.”

I really enjoyed the whole story and the characters and am now looking forward to the next book! 4 stars
