BLURB

After cheating on and losing the man he loved, Morgan Conway decided to get his life right. Now he owns a coffee shop and is engaged to Jase, an actor and rising star. All is perfect in his world until the man he thought was gone forever walks into his shop. His hidden feelings rush to the surface, unfortunately there for everyone to see, including his fiancé.

Shae Delamere was crushed when Morgan cheated on him five years ago. But he has a reason for seeking Morgan out. As Morgan and Shae get to know each other again, they discover the extent that friends meddled in their lives to keep them apart. Morgan cannot deny he is still in love with Shae, but he is engaged. With some hard decisions to make, Morgan struggles not to hurt the men he cares about—again. Shae has secrets he came to share with Morgan, but revealing them now could keep them apart for good.

EXCERPT

By mutual agreement they headed for the beach for a walk before bedtime.

“Why did our relationship go wrong?” he asked, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk to look down at Shae.

Shae frowned. “You stuck your cock in Olivia Atherstone.”

“I don’t mean then. I mean beforehand. We were going wrong before that, and you know it.”

He saw the conflict in Shae’s eyes, the need to blame everything on Morgan’s one stupid action even though their relationship had been on rocky ground for over a year.

He watched Shae wander over to the rail and look out to sea. It was early evening and there were still plenty of people around. The beach wasn’t really the place for an in-depth heart-to-heart.

Shae turned around, resting his back against the rail, and said, “Do you remember the day you told me Xander wanted you to come and work for him after college?”

Morgan tried to remember. “Not really. Was that before I worked on The Last Resort?”

“Yeah. You were so excited. You picked me up from class, do you remember? We went for a drive along the coast and you talked about the start of your new career. You talked for hours about it. How that film was the most exciting thing you’d ever done and it was the launch pad to your whole world.”

Morgan had vague memories of the conversation—snatches of him rambling on about how that one movie was the start of their life together. “You ended it by saying our lives would be right here in LA. We would never need to move away from the sunshine.”

Shae snorted lightly and turned to face the sea again. There was something he wasn’t able to see, something important to Shae, to their old relationship.

Morgan touched Shae’s shoulder gently. “Tell me what I’m missing.”

“That was the day I knew I was secondary to your career.”
