When the opportunity arose to review the re-released version of Nowhere Ranch, we were excited. Two of us had read it and really enjoyed it but Lily hadn’t. We were keen to see what she thought of this hugely popular book. And I wasn’t disappointed. Read below for Lily’s comments. Plus we have a copy of the book for one lucky person who leaves a comment on the blog.
Roving ranch hand Roe Davis never mixes business with pleasure, but his new boss, Travis Loving, lines up with Roe’s kinks like a custom-set rail and makes it clear Roe’s days of running away from love are over.
Love will grow through the cracks you leave open.
Ranch hand Roe Davis absolutely never mixes business with pleasure—until he runs into his boss, Travis Loving, at the only gay bar within two hundred miles.
Getting involved with the ranch owner is a bad idea, but Roe’s and Travis’s bedroom kinks line up against one another like a pair of custom-cut rails. As long as they’re both clear this is sex on the side, no relationship, no interfering with the job, they could make it work.
Shut out by his family years ago, Roe survived by steadfastly refusing to settle into so much as a post office box. As his affair with Travis grows into more than just sex, Roe’s past catches up with him, threatening the thin ray of happiness he’s found, reminding him it’s well past time he went on his way.
But even a loner gets lonely, and at this point, there’s nowhere left to run. The shame and sorrow of what he’s lost will stay with Roe wherever he goes—until he’s ready to let love lead him home.
This novel has been previously published and has been revised from its original release.
What did I think?
When I started reading this story, I felt shocked at the kinky explicit scenes, but the same time, I developed a morbid curiosity and kept on reading. I was mesmerized by what I was reading because the style of the story was so captivating. This is not an average kinky BDSM erotica, my friends. This is a deeply emotional romance, drama and erotica. As I kept on reading the story, I found out that the sex and the kinkiness were the superficial parts of the story and what lay beneath was nothing less than beautiful.
“Nowhere Ranch” is told from Roe’s perspective and the writer wrote it with total empathy. I felt like, Roe and I were sitting on the porch and he was telling me his story…. I could almost imagine this wounded hero gazing out the pastures and talking reflectively… Wow.
It was so obvious that Roe was gutted by the way his family rejected him for being gay, yet some family members kept in contact with him to “save his soul”. What they were doing was toxic, but what was tragic, was how Roe was reacting to these family members.
I loved Travis, who was down to earth, honest, kind and loyal. I adored him for helping Roe to come to terms with his grief and help him to move forward. He was the ideal man for Roe.
There are more characters in the story who were unforgettable, but that caring and selfless character called Hayley is the one who stood out for me. Hayley played a crucial role in the story because of her loyalty. She resolved her issue in such a way that everyone was a winner…. Oh… The finale of the story will leave you with soaring hearts.
My friends, I shall read this story again and again on a cold winter night to keep my heart warm.
