REVIEW: Absolution by E.M. Leya and Nicole Colville

Sinful Temptation Series

  • Horizontal Analysis – book #1
  • Absolution – book #2 (review below) Can be read standalone

Although this is book two in the collection, it can be read as a standalone or the first in the series.

For most of his adult life, Jon dedicated his life to the church, finding solace in helping others, but there has always been something missing. Up until now, he’s been able to push that aside and move forward, letting everyone think he’s happy and doing what he loves.

Ash doesn’t want to continue with life. Left behind to live a cold and empty life after his partner died in a tragic accident, he doesn’t see any future for himself. He goes through the motions of living, but inside he’s ready to give up. All that’s left behind is the anger and hurt he has inside him.

Finding comfort in each other’s company, the two men struggle with emotions, guilt and fears about the future. Confiding only in each other, they grow closer, both denying the bond building between them, and a past that won’t let them move on.

I loved the first story in the series and I was more than happy to read “Absolution” and I am so glad that I had the opportunity.

I loved how I was instantly placed in the story which flowed so well from the first one so I recommend you to read the first story before you start this one to appreciate the whole series. I must also applaud Nicole Colville and  E.M. Leya because their work was so cohesive…it felt like one person wrote this story rather than two.

Jon as a Catholic priest stole my heart. His character was meaningfully complex bringing out a lot of emotions in me so I think he was the ideal man for Ash, who was still grieving over the death of his long term partner.

The way the awkward warmth and friendship blossomed between these two was just heart warming for me so you can imagine how emotional I became when their friendship evolved into something more deep. What happens between these two felt realistic for me and their struggle made sense. The dialogue was engaging and stirred a lot of emotions in me and what these two did was very sensuous.

I love the series so I know I shall reread them again as a weekend “Sinful Temptation” bonanza read. 5 stars.
