When Sirens appear to steal her away, he is left facing the attack alone until a mysterious hero comes to his aid. Ryujin, or Jin to his friends, is a dragon shifter and his role as Captain of the Dragon Guards puts him in direct conflict with Mikhail.

The minute he sees Mikhail he knows what he wants. Now if he can only get Mikhail to see the same.

Bailey Bradford

Bailey BradfordBio: A native Texan, Bailey spends her days spinning stories around in her head, which has contributed to more than one incident of tripping over her own feet. Evenings are reserved for pounding away at the keyboard, as are early morning hours. Sleep? Doesn’t happen much. Writing is too much fun, and there are too many characters bouncing about, tapping on Bailey’s brain demanding to be let out.

Caffeine and chocolate are permanent fixtures in Bailey’s office and are never far from hand at any given time. Removing either of those necessities from Bailey’s presence can result in what is known as A Very, Very Scary Bailey and is not advised under any circumstances.

My Life Without Garlic (#1 in The Vamp for Me series)

mylifewithoutgarlic_800Some things in life just might be worth giving up garlic for.

It was simple curiosity that led Augustin to the vampire dating site—he thought it must be a joke started up by a bunch of weirdos. Man, was he right—but it just so happens that those weirdos really are vampires, and when one shows up at his place, Augustin’s world is turned upside down.

First he’s got a psychotic vampire to deal with. Then he’s got one who is much more fun hanging around.

Except now that Augustin knows that vampires exist, he can’t be left alive. Or can he? When an alternative is offered up, Augustin doesn’t care for it, either. After all, he doesn’t want to be whisked off to some disgusting vampire den.

Tony’s the vampire next in line to lead the coven. He wants to be a fair man, and that means arguing against killing Augustin. If he’s also attracted to the sarcastic, adorable man, where’s the harm in that?

The attraction between Augustin and Tony is undeniable, but deny it is what they both try to do. Someone is going to have to bend or break.

❄ Xavier’s Xmas by Amber Kell (It’s a freebie!) ❄

Xavier's XmasXavier’s Xmas by Amber Kell

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Blurb…

When Xavier’s roommate, Frankie, leaves him for a new boyfriend, he thinks his Christmas is going to be a sad affair. Until Frankie comes back and tells him he made a terrible mistake. Will Xavier accept Frankie’s love as the present he deserves?

So what did I think?

This was short and sweet, as Xavier and Frankie find happiness at Christmas. It tells the tale of two men who have lived together for three years as roommates, but it’s not until Frankie moves out to go live with his boyfriend, that they realise what was right under their noses all along.

What starts as being a lonely Christmas, ends up being the best Christmas of his life as Frankie returns home. Nearly losing each other forces them to face their fears and take a risk to be together.

A nice happy ending as Xavier, the older accountant, stands up for his much younger partner!

“I know you worry about the age differnce, but you are everything I’ve ever wanted.
You are my permanent Christmas present.”
The accompanying Christmas carol is therefore “You’re My Christmas Present” by Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners.

I downloaded this story free from Amber Kell’s website. It had a couple of minor editing problems (the title and author’s name appeared randomly throughout) but was easy to overlook. Download here.

The Case Of The Cupid Curse (End Street Agency #1)The Case Of The Cupid Curse by R.J. Scott

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

The Blurb..

Book 1 in The End Street Agency series written with Amber Kell.

Sam Enderson is a human detective who inherits a building from where his Uncle used to run a detective agency. He finds himself working for paranormal creatures despite his resolve to stick with humans only. To supplement his income as a new PI Sam rents out rooms in the large house.

Bob is a vampire and turns up on Sam’s doorstep to rent a room. Sparks fly and Sam is attracted to the vampire despite himself.

Sam is cursed by a witch, and has two cases landing on his desk. Werewolves, annoying ghosts and a grumpy gargoyle are enough to drive Sam mad. But somehow in amongst all of this he has to find a missing fae and a missing shifter child.

The End Street Agency introduces a world where paranormals pretty much keep away from humans but they can’t resist pulling Sam in when they find him on the edge of their territory. Everyone has their own agenda and it will be a while before they’re all sorted out.

So what did I think?

This book was so not what I was expecting! I was expecting the vampires and the witches and a bit of mystery as Sam takes over the detective agency. What I didn’t expect was the wonderful humour which was in bucketfuls!

Poor Sam, surrounded by talking gargoyles and mind-reading vampires, placed under love spells, taking jobs from werewolves and propositioned by other paranormals – things just weren’t working out the way he intented them.

I adored Bob, the vampire (with a name like Bob, how could you not?) and his interactions with Sam were hysterical, especially when he read Sam’s mind…
“Tall, skinny and blond, he ticked the boxes for Sam. Well, the old boxes. the one’s he had before he’d met Bob…
Damn, Did I think that?
He chanced a glance at Bob, who nodded back at him. Yep. Clearly he had thought that very thing.”

I was really surprised at the ending which seemed rather abrupt, probably compounded by the fact the ebook ended at 85%, but with so much unresolved it really encourages the reading of book 2!
