The Blurb…
“He left his seamy past…and found a steamy romance. ”
When Louis Guzman signs on with a Hollywood nanny agency and scores a job offer on his very first interview, he’s thrilled for the chance to start fresh-and hopeful that no one will delve too deeply into his checkered work and romantic past.
Helping an amicably divorced Beverly Hills power couple raise their two adorable children is the perfect situation. Too perfect to let a vibe of attraction to the handsome producer tempt Louis to flirt his way to a pink slip.
Since he came out, Dan Krefman has been too busy with his job to experiment with his newly embraced sexuality. But with undercurrents sizzling like live power cables between him and his kids’ hunky Latino nanny, he’s finding it hard to maintain his distance.
Louis promises Dan-and himself-that just one encounter will get the lust out of both their systems. But it’s only the beginning…and when Louis’s past crawls out of the shadows, dirty secrets threaten to destroy not only his own future, but the family he has come to love.
Warning: Hot male loving and sweet family bonding-not bondage, bond”ing,” perv!
So what did I think?
This is a nice story, perhaps slightly predictable but nice all the same.
The story revolves around Louis starting work as the nanny for a divorced couple. Crissi and Dan have two young children but finally divorced when Dan realised he couldn’t deny he was gay anymore.
Dan and Louis are very different, with very different backgrounds and very different sexual experience but are attracted to one another. After
initially trying to keep their distance and maintain their employee/employee relationship, they finally give in and commence a relationship.
It was actually easy to imagine these men together and they really did work as both a couple and a ‘family’ together with the children. Dan and the kids give Louis a focus in his life and Louis gives Dan something that was missing in his relationship with his wife (good sex!).“But experiencing the whole package – friend, partner, passionate lover who aroused him effortlessly – was a new experience.”
Louis is much more experienced but he truly sees something special in Dan. “Louis had a history with men. A lot of men. He’d dated them, slept with them, used them, been used by them. He’d had short term relationship and longer ones, mild flirtations and passionate affairs…..But this near obsession with Dan was not something he’d experienced before. He wanted more of Dan, much more.” And it was easy to believe that it wasn’t the money.
After a wonderful period of time together, Dan and Louis have to face the consequences of both their relationship and also secrets from Louis past. There were a couple of things that surprised me here. Firstly, Crissi (Dan’s ex-wife) is a lovely character and her response to finding out the news was unexpected. It would have been easy to over-dramatise her reaction but it is very realistic and you can’t help admiring her. Secondly, Dan’s reaction to Louis’ past. I expected a huge issue to appear between Louis and Dan but this didn’t happen. Everything was resolved rather simply. Maybe a bit more drama would have been better?
What was done really well was the children, particularly Cara, the five year old. Appropriate behaviour, appropriate dialogue, appropriate parental/nanny response.
Overall, a nice enjoyable story with a happy ending!
