A very personal message from Lex..
I’m Lex Chase and Nic asked me to say a few words about my upcoming release Chasing Sunrise. Set in a lush paranormal world of vampires and shifters, it is in fact a story about surviving domestic violence. It is an issue I know very well as a domestic violence survivor at the hands of my girlfriend for 10 years. They say time heals all wounds, but no one tells you the weapons of words and fists will always be in your skin. No one understands domestic violence between gay couples actually exists. I will always be picking up the pieces, and I admit I may never be whole.
Sevon, the lovely fellow on the cover, copes with his abuse with women’s clothing. He carries himself with the dignity and grace of nobility behind his metaphorical armor and shield of elaborate gowns and jewelry. One day, perhaps, he may he doesn’t need to hide behind his frippery, and find someone who accepts him for who he is. Out of the corsets, and under the makeup, perhaps someone will see him for the strong man he is. There was no one to see me as strong. I remain strong for myself. I clawed my way out of my own hell, I want to help others see there can be light. That’s where you come in.
I’m donating 100% of the pre-sale royalties to the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center’s Domestic Violence Service. We need to raise awareness for the issue of LGBT domestic violence. It’s real. Despite Sevon’s mistrust, Jack is determined to tame Sevon’s wild heart and perhaps earn his freedom. As invasion looms, Sevon wonders if trusting Jack will lead him into another trap or if he should forget about chasing the sunrise and remain Dominic’s compliant prisoner.

Lex Chase once heard Stephen King say in a commercial, “We’re all going to die, I’m just trying to make it a little more interesting.” She knew then she wanted to make the world a little more interesting too.
Weaving tales of cinematic, sweeping adventure and epic love—and depending on how she feels that day—Lex sprinkles in high-speed chases, shower scenes, and more explosions than a Hollywood blockbuster. She is a Damned Yankee hailing from the frozen backwoods of Maine now residing in the burbs of Northwest Florida, where it could be 80F and she’d still be a popsicle.
