GUEST POST, EXCERPT & GIVEAWAY: Breaker by AF Henley & Kelly Wyre
Welcome to the Breaker (Exile, Volume 1) Blog Tour and Giveaway! We’re both super excited about this new release and thrilled to be able to share it with you. Throughout this tour, we’re going to be introducing many of the characters within, and associated with, Exile’s bizarre shores, as well as introducing Exile itself. Then we’re going to top that off with a quick little teaser.
However, before we get into any of that we wanted to remind you that we’ve got a couple of awesome giveaways going along with the tour so be sure to read through to the end to find out how you could win either a Silver-plated Starfish Anklet (just by leaving a single comment!), or the grand prize of a signed, print copy of Breaker, a coordinates bracelet with the Believe. Seek. Prove. reminder so you can always find your way back to the island of Exile, and a $20 gift certificate to the Less Than Three Press book market.
The Character Discussion
Kelly Wyre: *sees the name of the character to talk about today* Oh Lord.
AF Henley: Ugh. Not this guy.
KW: Yeah. It’s this guy. This wonderful ray of sunshine and light. The one, the one… your favorite… Shin.
AFH: Why do I think there’s a reason his name is so close to a nasty four-lettered poop word?
KW: Because we like sophomoric symbolism? It’s also a great place to kick him when he gets pissy.
AFH: Wow. We are much smarter than I thought.
KW: Yes. We are. Totally. And yeah, Shin’s a brat. He just is. But every island needs an asshole.
AFH: I guess, to be well-rounded about the whole thing, he does have a teeny bit of weight on his shoulders.
KW: He is the head of Island Security. And we do find out later that he’s been around for a while.
AFH: SHHHHHH! No second-book spoilers!
KW: Oh! Right. Okay. We’ll stick to how much Shin sucks in THIS one, then.
The Teaser
“He’s mobile and frolicking in the fucking tulips with that idiot Lundrell when he should be doing what Estrangement intended and protecting this island.”
Kaeva’s blood boiled, and he’d had enough. He walked out of the brush and onto the path. Both radios screamed with feedback and then abruptly died. Shin took a defensive stance, and after a startled moment, Tayson—a large, fair man with skin perpetually healing itself from sunburn—did the same.
“State your purpose,” Shin barked.
“To tell elitist assholes to go fuck themselves,” Kaeva drawled, proud that he sounded far calmer than he felt. Rage licked at his insides.
“Stand down… Downs,” Tayson stammered.
“Or you’ll what?” Kaeva asked.
Tayson didn’t have a good answer to that. Neither did Shin, who was twitching as though connected to a live wire.
“I’ve been trying to tell Eddie that this place is different than the rest of the world, and here you two pricks are proving me wrong.”
“What you do with your charge is your business,” Shin replied.
“Yeah. It is. And if you’re running off good people because of your fucked up Patrol philosophy, then that’s Oberon’s business.”
Shin jerked like a puppet with a demented master. “Oberon and Lake are aware of why Rivet left.”
“Good, then you won’t mind if I go over it with them, just to be on the safe side.”
“Do what you want. Patrol is an intrinsic part of Exile’s structure. Unlike one worthless hunter who endangers us all by simply breathing.”
Kaeva knew better. He’d been provoked by far more skillful people than Shin. He didn’t intend to do anything more than take two menacing steps forward. And that was, actually, all he did.
His Estrangement did the rest.

In the wake of several near-cataclysmic events, humanity created the Cure, a DNA-altering antidote to death by disease and old age. But all cures come with side effects: a small percentage of the population develops a wide range of powers, some of which are lethal to others, and some which are lethal to the wielder.
These people are called the Estranged, hunted and shunned, safe only on the Island of Exile. It is here that Kaeva and Eddie meet—and where they set a prophecy in motion, quite possibly sealing their own demise, and even the end of Exile.
Notes: contains some explicit content and includes thoughts and discussions of past and potential suicide

Since the early years Henley has been an enthusiastic writer, from the first few I-love-my-dog stories to the current leap into erotica. A self-professed Google genius, Henley lives for the hours spent digging through the Internet for ‘research purposes’ which, more often than not, lead seven thousand miles away from first intentions but bring Henley to new discoveries and ideas that, once seeded, tend to flourish.
