When he sees a personal ad from a man that quotes his favorite poet, Brent decides to do something wild and answer.

Enter Cody Bellstrom, easygoing bisexual musician, who is happy to initiate Brent in the ways of gay sex. Brent now has a new problem: he realizes he’s gay and no one in his life knows it. In the end, Brent must confront the truth of where – and with whom – his heart lies.

Excerpt:

As Brent sat cross-legged on a pillow, tearing pieces off the rubbery bread and dipping them into various dishes he couldn’t identify, he realized he was having more fun than he’d had in ages. Along with being thoughtful and smart, Graham was one of the most hilarious people he’d ever met, and Brent was in stitches for most of their lunch.

“If only my dates could be like this,” Brent said, after another bout of laughter between them, then widened his eyes. “Oh, wow, man, that sounded dumb.”

Graham didn’t seem fazed. “They’re not? But why? You’re so fun to talk to. Any woman would be nuts not to appreciate you.”

“Uh, well, tell them that. But I guess I don’t really appreciate them either. I don’t know, it’s like, awkward and boring most of the time. Whatever. Ari keeps trying to set me up, but…. Anyway, how did this get into talking about my love life, or lack thereof?”

Graham regarded him, warmth in his eyes, and said softly, “You’ll find it, Brent. Everyone deserves to have love in their life. You’re young. You’ll find it.”

Graham’s words touched Brent, but the intensity of the moment made him uncomfortable. Even worse, he noticed he was getting aroused.

He shifted on his pillow with a weak laugh. “Hey, no more of this ‘young’ crap, okay? You’re not that much older than I am.”

Cabin Boys: William Cooper talks about the trick to successful erotica as he launches his new book.

William Cooper has a new book out – Cabin Boys. Firstly let me start by saying this book is brother on brother action which is perfectly fine by me. I’m perfectly happy to read a book with a twincest or a brocest theme and have actually posted a couple of reviews for this type of book on the blog before – check them out if you’re interested!

Even if this isn’t your usual type of book, it’s interesting to read what William has to say about his special niche plus there’s an excerpt to give you a little taste. Enjoy!

The Trick to Successful Erotica

Many authors make their living writing erotica. However, making good money from erotica isn’t as easy as you’d think. You can just throw up a quick 5k vanilla sex scene on Amazon and expect to start rolling in money. Once you’ve learned the ropes though, you can be successful.

The main trick to writing successful erotica is to use kinks and niches to your advantage. Psuedo-incest, BBW, and dubcon are all very popular niches. Same with virgins, barely legal, and BDSM. Your best bet is to pick a niche or kink and stick to it.

For my, my best niche is Brother/Brother books. It’s still a pretty small genre, but there’s a good size market for it. Pseudo-incest and Incest are both popular in the M/F genres, but they’re even more popular in the M/M genre.

Just let men love watching twin women having sex in porn, women enjoy reading about two sexy twin men who don’t mind being intimate together. Some authors achieve this niche by doing M/M/M and having two brothers seduce another non-related male. Others, like myself, cut out the third party and just let the brothers get freaky together.

Some people won’t touch the genre with a ten foot pole, as either a reader or a writer, and that’s fine. There are tons of other kinks just waiting to be tapped into. If you’re looking at making a living from erotica, learn what niches are out there and find one you enjoy writing.

Thanks for hosting me!

The Blurb…

Aaron has been in love with his brother for years. Unfortunately for Aaron, those feelings haven’t been mutual. Elliot loves his brother, sure, but he’s not in love with Aaron. After a drunken night up at their parents’ cabin in the woods, could things finally be going Aaron’s way?

Cabin Boys Excerpt

Elliot sent shivers through my body as he ran his tongue along my shaft. Arching my back, hips driving up to give him better access, I wished he’d stop teasing me. God, just suck it already. He opted for mercy and worked his magic by taking my cock into his hot mouth. Heart slamming against my ribs, I thought maybe his mouth might be what heaven feels like—sexual redemption to be found sliding my cock between his full, red lips.

With each rise and fall of Elliot’s head, I got closer to coming. The weight of the impending orgasm, the pressure in my balls drove me insane. I wanted him to take my cum, wanted him to swallow every last drop. Then I wanted to push him down onto the bed and suck his cock dry. I could almost hear his moans as he fisted my hair.

Just as I was about to come, I heard my bedroom door open and it jarred me out of my fantasy. I opened my eyes and yanked my blanket over my lower half as Elliot sauntered in. Even though it was pretty obvious what I’d been doing, I still didn’t need him to see for himself. The heat rising in my cheeks assured me they were bright red as I faced him down. It didn’t help that he was the object of my fantasy.

Elliot stood in the doorway, a slight grin on his face. He wore only a pair of basketball shorts. It was obvious he’d been working out in the basement again. Droplets of sweat slid down his body, moving along the curves of his chest and abs. I loved that the only hair he had on his chest was the little trail leading from his belly button to beneath his shorts. Elliot’s grin solidified my assumption that he knew I was jerking off.

Even though I was twenty-one, I felt like a teenager again. I couldn’t wait until I was out of the house and had my own place. I had hoped for some privacy by now, but Elliot had decided to live with our parents until he finished his MBA. He claimed it was far less expensive than on-campus housing or an apartment.

My gaze roamed over his body, from the contours of his shoulder, down his pecs and abs, to the small trail of hair that lead to the prize inside his shorts. Stop that! I chastised myself. I couldn’t let Elliot notice me ogling him, much less figure out he’d just interrupted a fantasy involving him. He was my brother, after all, and I can’t imagine he’d be pleased with it.

“You got any plans for the weekend?” he asked.

I rolled my eyes. The fucker could’ve at least said hello or apologized for not knocking when he came in. He reinforced my belief that I’d gotten all the manners from our genetic pool, and they’d drifted right past him. Elliot never was one to beat around the bush. “Nope, why?”

He leaned against the doorframe with his arms crossed in front of his chest, still grinning from his embarrassing masturbatory discovery. “I was thinking we could go up to the cabin for the weekend. We haven’t been up there since last summer, and I wanna grab some beers and have some fun before school starts up again.”

“Sounds good. I could use a few days away from the house. We leave in the morning?” Elliot was right. We hadn’t gone up there since about this time last year. We were well overdue for a break away from the rest of the world.

“Yeah, if that works for you. We can stop at the liquor store down the street and stock up like we always do. How’s that sound?”

I nodded. “Yeah, that works for me. What time we leaving?”

“Be ready to go around six,” Elliot said, then winked. “Have fun taking care of that.” He turned and left, closing the door behind him.

Six? Seriously? As far as I was concerned, there were no hours between two am and eight am. No one in their right mind wants to get up that early. But then again, no one ever said Elliot was in his right mind.

So what did I think?

The excerpt, which is actually the beginning of the book, sets the tone for the whole story, as Aaron and his brother Elliot head off for a weekend at their family cabin. Aaron has fantasised about his brother for years and this trip is the weekend where all his fantasies come true. Skinny dipping and too much alcohol lower their inhibitions and Aaron finds himself the lucky recipient of the type of attention he ‘s been craving from his brother. There’s no gradual introduction to the world of gay sex as these guys get stuck straight into it! Lots and lots of brother on brother action in this short story and Aaron can’t believe his luck!

The blurb says that Aaron has been in love with Elliot for years. This may be the case but if so, the story doesn’t really show why – this is all about the physical attraction rather than giving much insight into the characters. There’s an interesting acceptance by Elliot (who is not gay and therefore can’t give Aaron everything he desires “It was a little disappointing, but any sex with Elliot would be worth it.”) and  a  rather relaxed attitude regarding their activities. This isn’t an angsty, guilt-filled story – this is short and sexy with an unexpected little turn at the end which I’m sure will lead to another story and adventure for Aaron.

The Night Visitor by Ewan Creed

The Night VisitorThe Night Visitor by Ewan Creed

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Blurb…

Everyone likes sexually exploring. Finding things that turn you on, experimenting to see what gets you off… Hot partners and scenarios that scare some people and make others slick with desire… But what happens when the fantasies you’re living out are in your dreams? And what happens when these dreams seem to transcend into the real world as well? Could these be the creation of your hot, sultry and sexy mind, or is there something more to it? The Night Visitor exposes one man’s journey to sexual fulfillment and fantasy… but is it real?

So what did I think?

The Night Visitor is part of the Charlie Harding presents series …..“Exclusive to Wilde City Press comes a selection of premium, black label books presented by internationally-renowned and award winning adult entertainer, Charlie Harding. Each sizzling story has been personally chosen by Charlie for the quality of its storytelling, its steaminess…and the fact that it got Charlie Harding hard.” and this book does deliver what Charlie promises..a bit of sizzle and a lot of steaminess (we’ll have to take Charlie’s word on the rest!)

The premise is interesting and the story has an air of mystery – Kevin’s recurring dream about sexual exploits with the man who haunts him in his dreams. Who is the man? Why does Kevin dream about him?

This book is about fulfilling fantasies and Kevin’s fantasies are realised while he sleeps. He dreams hot and hard. The words aren’t pretty, it’s blunt and unapologetic and the language used serves the purpose – this sex is often raw.

Interestingly, the twists at the end, the revelation of the mystery introduce a hint of romance as mystery dream man Vic, gradually reveals himself and reminds Kevin of promises made – vows of unconditional love.

I really liked the sense of mystery, the quality of the dream sequences (disjointed enough to seem dreamlike but not jumping all over the place) and the final revelations.

A copy of this book was provided by the publisher in return for an honest review.

Confessions of a Gay Rugby Player by Patrick Darcy

Please note that my rating for this book is based on assessing it as gay erotica. It is not a gay romance story.

Confessions of a Gay Rugby PlayerConfessions of a Gay Rugby Player by Patrick Darcy

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The blurb…

Star Irish rugby player, Conor Murphy, lives and breathes rugby. He spends his weekends playing rugby, drinking beer, and singing songs with his teammates. There is only one thing he loves more than rugby, and that is hot rugby players. But after the final whistle sounds, the real competition begins: the hunt for the hottest men.

Conor’s muscular body and roguish good looks ensure he can have his pick of the sexiest players. But what happens when this alpha male meets his match on and off the field? Who will come out on top when he meets the horniest rugby players from the USA? Can two alpha males have the night of their lives?

So what did I think?

In the author’s profile at the end of the book, Patrick Darcy says “For me, sex should be passionate, intense, sweaty, dirty fun and a no hold barred affair!”. Well that’s exactly what he has delivered in this book!

The book is told in the first person and opens with Conor preparing himself for a night on the town “As I wipe away the stream from the bathroom mirror and take a good look at myself, I can’t help but think, Conor, you are one hell of a ride.“. Conor is in New York for the Gay Rugby World Cup, a tournament which is played every two years.

Conor and his roommate Sean meet the rest of the team in the hotel lobby before they all head out to a large gay club nearby for the tournament closing party. I thought the author captured the antics of the players perfectly as they heckle each other and chug their pints in a ritualistic drinking game. There is a real sense of camaraderie.

When they reach the club Conor spies Tonio, a player from the San Francisco team, across the floor and he starts remembering the game from earlier that day.

Even without understanding rugby, there is a real sense of the game provided in the descriptions and quite cleverly, the on-field manoeuvres are related back to sex. Conor seems to struggle to keep his mind in the game as the pounding of the players translates into what he would like to do off the field.

The story reverts back to the club where Conor is prowling for Tonio with whom he had clashed in the game. He has days worth of pent up testosterone and wants Tonio to provide the relief. From here it basically becomes total erotica with a real porn feel. There is not much plot or story. It is just the no holds barred sex, pretty much as the author described himself liking: sweaty, dirty, intense.

The author delivers a sex scene that definitely takes the reader right into the moment, describing sights, sounds, smells, feelings. The sex scenes are hot and passionate. The sex is intense. The language is graphic and these boys like it dirty. There is no concept of safe sex.

For me, I love a good sex scene, but I just felt the story wasn’t resolved adequately for my tastes. I am not exactly sure what I wanted to happen but something just felt a bit flat. Perhaps this is because my personal tastes lean more towards gay romance rather than pure erotica? But if erotica is what you are after then this should definitely hit the mark.

Oh, and I will never be using the ice from a hotel ice machine ever again!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, Wilde City Press, in return for an honest review.
