NEW RELEASE: Sweet Dreams by Brooke Edwards

Benji Crowe runs a little boutique of all things sweet in an out of the way alley, nice and secluded with a loyal clientele that keep him comfortably afloat and not much in the way of foot traffic. Occasionally someone new will find their way in, either on the advice of a regular or by accident.

When the door slams open one day, Benji thinks that his newest customer must just be really hungry. The man who sprints inside isn’t interested in the pastries, though. He snatches the beanie right off the college student sitting closest to the door before throwing himself into a vacant chair and bundling his distinctive blue coat into a ball that just barely makes it into the trash can. Benji is about to give him a piece of his mind when a dozen teenagers pour through the door shouting about Dane Harper, the latest Hollywood box office favorite.

From that moment, Benji could have been forgiven for thinking he’d fallen headfirst into the latest Hollywood box office feature. Luckily, Dane has enough box office experience for the both of them.

BLOG TOUR, EXCERPT AND GIVEAWAY! Two Ruined Christmas Eves by Christ McHart

Title: Two Ruined Christmas Eves
Author: Chris McHart
Release Date: November 30th 2015
Genre: Holiday, mm romance, short story

It’s Christmas Eve, and folk music star Jonas is on his way to the most important gig of his career, the Volksmusik Stadl. Well, he would be if heavy snowfall hadn’t stopped him on the highway.

Fritz has to accompany his grandparents to the biggest folk music event in southern Germany, the worst punishment for a metal fan, especially on Christmas Eve.

When these two men meet at the concert after-party, sparks fly. Will this Christmas Eve be something special after all?

“I guess it’s not your usual style of music?” Jonas asked. He just had to know if he was right.

“What gives me away?” The man grinned sheepishly, averting his eyes.

Such a shame. He had beautiful eyes. “The wristbands. I don’t see them here much.” He wasn’t going to comment on the clothing. Yet.

The man ran a finger over the collection on his wrist, all of them entrance bands to festivals. Rock and metal, if Jonas wasn’t mistaken.

“Yeah, I’m more of a hard music kind of guy,”

“I figured. Don’t worry, nobody cares about this here. They are all pretty easygoing. I’m Jonas, by the way.” He extended his hand. The other man shook it.

“I’m Fritz, nice to meet you.”

“The pleasure is all mine.” Jonas smiled and held Fritz’s hand a second longer than necessary. Fritz had great hands, strong, not too soft. Jonas trailed his thumb over Fritz’s, a mostly innocent gesture. Fritz looked up, his eyes wide, but not appalled. Score. His gaydar rarely failed him, and this was no exception. He had some sort of reputation, and it was not the shy, heterosexual He was out–outer than out. And astonishingly, nobody cared.

About the Author

I’m a writer of M/M romance and M/M erotic romance from Germany.

I’ve always had stories in my head, but a while ago I allowed them to get out and on paper. Looks like it has been a good decision, although the more stories I write, the more I have in my head. Maybe I’ll have all of them out someday, and there’ll be nothing more to write, but for the next years, I don’t see that coming.

When I’m not writing, I spend time with my family (I have the best husband EVER) and try to keep all my animals happy. I also enjoy gardening and cooking, although I’m still looking for someone to clean up afterwards. And, of course, I love reading, whenever I have a quiet moment.

Writing and reading is my break from everyday stress and I hope you join me!

A dragon is about to find out what happens when a cat discovers his cave of shiny treasures.

After nine years, Pib is finally free from his contract with the newly wed prince. Slipping out in the middle of the night to avoid getting stuck in another contract, Pib shifts into his cat and makes his way home to the little village he foolishly left, hoping his best friend Wil still lives there.

Dray is bored. His services as a princess-guarding dragon are no longer needed and even his gold and jewels are unable to cheer him up. His mood changes quickly when he catches someone in his treasure cave, and it starts a series of events that change his life forever.

When the two finally meet, sparks fly, but Dray will have to move quickly if he’s to save his cat after Pib gets kidnapped.

Pib snuck into the darkened room, tiptoeing quietly so as not to wake the newly crowned prince Geraint and his princess. Looking around, he both thanked and cursed his shifter senses. While he was grateful he could see inside the room, the smell of sex throughout the air was something he could have done without.

Reaching the desk on the far side of the room, he paused and glanced at the couple. Once he was satisfied they were still asleep, he eased open the cover and found what he was after—his freedom. After nine long years as the bastard’s slave, the letter freeing him from servitude almost brought tears to his eyes. Carefully folding it and placing it in his inside pocket, Pib gently shut the desk and tiptoed back toward the bedroom door, leaving the room as silently as he’d entered.

He knew there was only a limited window of opportunity for him to make his escape. Even though the pompous bastard had made a production of signing the form and granting him his freedom, Pib knew it was all for show. If he didn’t escape now, Geraint would get him alone and force him to sign another contract and then make some sort of bogus announcement about how Pib wanted to stay.

Pib snorted, unable to help himself. Luckily there was no one else around the castle at this time of the night, though even if there was, Pib didn’t care. He was leaving, and no one was going to stop him. Anyone who tried would have a close encounter with his knife, or his claws, he wasn’t picky.

“Hey, Pib, where are you off to in the middle of the night?” asked the guard at the front door of the castle. Pib never bothered learning their names or getting friendly with them, especially since Geraint could force him to kill any of them at a moment’s notice. He’d learned that it didn’t pay for him to form any attachments with those surrounding Geraint.

“Getting an early start on my retirement,” Pib replied, smirking at the man while he continued to stroll toward the exit.

“Sorry, Pib, but I have to check. Do you have a signed letter from Prince Geraint?” The guard shifted from foot to foot, showing his unease.

Pib stopped in front of him and forced a smile. “Of course,” he said, carefully extracting the letter and handing it over to the guard.

He waited, watching the guard closely as he read the letter. One wrong move and Pib was going to gut him. Nothing could happen to that letter.

“Looks good,” the guard said, handing the letter back to Pib. “It’ll sure be different without you around, but all the best. And, uh, don’t take this the wrong way, but I hope I don’t see you again.”

Returning the letter to his pocket, Pib looked up and smiled a real smile at the man. He wanted to laugh when the guard’s face paled as he caught sight of Pib’s canines, but restrained himself. “Don’t worry, I hope never to see you again either.”

With that, Pib walked out of the castle and made his way through the sleeping village. Pulling his hood up, he used the dark material to blend into the surroundings. He wasn’t taking any chances that Geraint wouldn’t wake up any moment and send guards running after him. After all, Pib was practically friends with all of the skeletons in Geraint’s closet.

Pib reached the edge of the village and paused. After nine long years, he was finally free of Geraint, his orders, and most importantly, his shackle. The magical cuff that had decorated his right ankle for nine years had been removed after Geraint had signed his release. The cuff was the only thing ensuring Pib’s obedience, and finally, it was gone.

Taking a deep breath, Pib stepped over the invisible boundary line and felt the remaining enchantments shatter and disappear, leaving him standing as his true self for the first time in years. Reaching inside, he called out his inner cat to come out and play, and in seconds, his clothes disappeared and he was standing on all fours in his serval form. Stretching, he threw one last glance back at the castle and the village before slinking away into the trees, using the natural camouflage to shield him as he made his way toward the start of his new life.

Excerpt from Hopelessly Devoted

AFTER SOPHIA finished calming my nerves, fixing my hair—I’d given in and gone to Pierre last week—and helping me look respectable enough to walk down the aisle next to her brother, she gave me a kiss on the cheek.

“Remember,” she said, grabbing my hands in her dainty ones, “you have five minutes. Breathe deeply and think of the honeymoon.” Her eyes twinkled. “When you hear the music, open the door, and Paul will be waiting for you. And stop fussing with your tie.” With another kiss on the cheek and a squeeze of my hands, she swept out of the room in a swish of silk to take her place at the front of the crowd.

Thinking of the honeymoon wasn’t the best idea. I didn’t want to face the hundreds of guests out there with a boner, and thinking of the reception was hell on my nerves. I thought of my parents, but that made me depressed. At least it killed my erection.

The next thing I knew, the music playing softly just outside my door grew louder. I peered out the window again and saw the guests, dressed in their stylish finery, stand and look toward the entrance. Their voices quieted as they awaited our arrival.

I squared my shoulders, took a deep, unfulfilling breath, and opened the door.

Paul stood waiting for me, as promised, dressed in a gorgeous tuxedo that hugged his hips and shoulders perfectly. When our eyes met, his smile took my breath away. He held out his hand for me to take.

“Breathe, babe.” He chuckled.

“Easy for you to say, you’ve probably been breathing the whole time.”

We stood facing each other, and Paul took my sweaty hands in his clean, dry ones. His eyes glistened with moisture.

“Do you love me?” I nodded. My ability to form words had left the building with Elvis. “Do you want to marry me?” I nodded more vigorously then. “Good. I promise to hold your hand the entire time. Just try and visualize everyone naked.”

“Even the women?” Yuck.

“Yes, even them.” Damn.

About the author

R.J. Jones started as a reader and eventually made the progression to reviewing. It wasn’t until two men popped into her thoughts, insisting on telling her their story that she started to write.

It started with one scene. A hot and dirty one in the shower…

R.J.’s initial thought was if she could write their scene then they’d shut up and allow her to concentrate on other aspects of her day. Not so. That shower scene ended up being 3000 words long and three hours of work.  And still, they didn’t shut up.  They told her their entire story and she didn’t sleep for days. Sometimes she couldn’t keep up with what they were telling her and she had to keep a notebook by her bed.

Whilst she was writing their story a side character decided he needed his story told too. Then other characters followed suit.

You see the problem? If she ever wants to sleep again then she needs to write.

R.J. is a wife and a mother to two boys. She is surrounded by males. Even her dog is a boy.

Blog Tour! A Tale of Three Shorts by Taylin Clavelli

Today we welcome Taylin Clavelli to talk about the inspiration behind one of her stories.

Taylin FB cover

Inspiration behind Invisible

Invisible was originally written a long time ago when I was in a particularly reflective mood. I looked back on the ups and downs of being married and the issues we’d tackled. Some we overcame – other’s we found middle ground on and a few we’d stuck on the back burner. Those were the smaller things which seemed important at the time, but in the greater scheme of things became minor.

Like most people, I had a moan about my issues to a close friend who admitted to going through the same. It helped me to see another’s point of view, and it was comforting to know I wasn’t the only one who felt the way I did. The problem which affected me the most was the sense of being taken for granted. What one partner saw as being comfortable and part of a well-oiled family, the other took as being ignored and essentially invisible. We were in a repetitive cycle, and I was asking myself “Is this my lot till I’m in a coffin? Do I have to accept the status quo? Is there more to life? And what do I have to do to break the cycle?” Though I have to say, my experience was different to that of my characters. I didn’t go to the extremes in my story, and I have no intention of revealing too much.

Through life, I’ve always found it helpful to write down things that affected me – even if they found their way to the bin. Most of the time when I read the thoughts back to myself, they seemed clearer.

I originally wrote invisible for myself as a way of purging my soul as it were; using a nugget of personal experience to add to the story. When I saw the remit for Love Loss Laughter and Lust, I dug it out of my archives to send to Wayward Ink. But after it was submitted, the feedback was amazing, and I discovered that quite a few people empathized with the characters and through the editing process the final version of invisible was born.

Writing Invisible at times was hard because I felt like I was revealing more of myself than I wanted to. But then again, what writer doesn’t use personal experience in their works. Sometimes it is one element that inspires a story, another time it can be that personal detail that completes the personality of the character.

I have been blown away by the response to Invisible, and I am over the moon that the boys and their experience found their way into people’s hearts. If their story has inspired couples to communicate more, then that is more than I could have ever hoped.

Communicating can be anything from a kiss on passing, a touch of the shoulder to something requiring words. A simple ‘I love you’ doesn’t take long to say and makes a world of difference. A flower left on the bonnet of your car, or a walnut whip left in the fridge.

Personally I enjoy the mug of tea and a kiss given to me each morning and the cuddle at night.

Communication keeps people together.

About the author:

Taylin Clavelli lives in the United Kingdom, about 15 miles south of Birmingham, and a short journey from the world famous Cadbury’s Chocolate factory. She’s married with children and loves her family with all her heart.
Her love of books has been a long standing affair, with Taylin liking nothing better than to lose herself in an imaginary world.
Until she met Lily Velden, she never considered trying her hand at writing. However, after talking ideas, Lily encouraged her to put pen to paper—or rather, fingers to keyboard. Since, with a few virtual kicks in the right place, she hasn’t stopped. Her confidence eventually led to her writing an original work for submission.
Her first published work was Boys, Toys, and Carpet Fitters, developed for the Dreamspinner Press Anthology – Don’t Try This At Home.
Now she absolutely adores immersing herself into the characters she creates, and transferring the pictures in her brain to paper, finding it liberating, therapeutic, and wonderful.
Outside of writing, her interests include; martial arts (she’s a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Taekwon-do), horse-riding, all of which facilitates her love of a wide variety of movies. Her action heroes include Jet Li and Tony Jaa—finding the dedication these men have for their art combined with their skill both amazing and a privilege to watch. If pressed, she’ll admit to thinking that the screen entrance of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean – Curse of the Black Pearl, and Shadowfax in LOTR, to be the greatest screen entrances ever. Her all-time favorite movies are Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
The simple things in life that make her day, putting a smile on her face are:
Laughter – especially that of her children.
The smell of lasagna cooking – it makes her mouth salivate.
The dawn chorus – no symphony ever written can beat the waking greetings of the birds.

★★★★½ The Actor & The Thief by Edward Kendrick ★★★★½

The Actor & The Thief

Edward Kendrick

Publisher: Wilde City Press

 The blurb

Once they were a couple. Now—they’re far from it.

Just out of prison, Craig heads to Denver. At the same time Adam, on tour with a Broadway show, arrives there. Also heading to Denver are two men bent on finding Craig for their own nefarious reasons.

When Craig and Adam accidentally meet sparks fly, but not of the good kind. Then Craig finds his mentor murdered and believes he’s the reason why. He calls on Adam, the only man he can trust for help. Can they work together, and possibly re-kindle their love? Or will Adam walk away again?

Our thoughts
Oh I loved this story, The Actor and The Thief. Our MCs Craig and Adam were awesome!

The title says it all Adam is an actor and Craig is a thief.  Adam put an end to his and Craig’s relationship 20 years ago when his heart could no longer take the worrying about Craig and his safety in his chosen profession.  And Craig didn’t chase him, knowing he wasn’t ready to give up his profession.

But 20 years after parting ways they find themselves in the same restaurant, wishing and wanting.  Craig has just been released from prison after serving 6 years and he’s finally ready to retire.  Adam is performing in Denver, he’s a star in his own right but his personal life is lacking.

The line from the Godfather popped in my head while reading this story “Every time I try to get out they just keep pulling me back in”…Craig’s out and really doesn’t want to get back into that line of work but he does a favor for a friend and before the job is complete his friend is murdered.  It seems as if Craig’s past doesn’t want to let him go.

Adam is content with being an actor, even content with being an aging actor.  After running into Craig he realizes he’s still in love with him but wants to keep his distance.  But once he learns that Craig has retired or is trying to retire he wants nothing more than to be with the man he loves and is willing to do anything to make that happen.

Adam and Craig are trying to cut the ties to Craig’s past life but two men don’t want to see that happen at least not without getting their hands on the money Craig has stashed away.

This story moved at a really nice pace, I just hate that it was such a quick read.  I would love to read about Adam and Craig’s first go at love…I can only imagine. *swoon*

★★★★ Between the Shadow and the Soul by Jamie Craig ★★★★

Between the Shadow and the Soul

Jamie Craig

Publisher – Amber Allure

The blurb

Ryan Jackson doesn’t expect too much from his weekend at the Shadows and Souls fan convention in Tahoe—he wants to meet his online friends, engage in a few heated debates about the plot for the upcoming season, and maybe shake the hand of the TV show’s star, Johnny Marlowe. But his weekend goes off course almost immediately after his arrival. First, the hotel loses his booking. Then Johnny Marlowe talks to him like they’re actual friends. And while his head is still spinning, a ghost attacks him in the elevator.
Despite fighting ghosts every week on television, Johnny Marlowe does not believe in the spirit world. He does, however, believe he should get to know Ryan better. Fan or not, the man is not only gorgeous, he’s down-to-earth, fun, and makes Johnny forget about the fake life he’s forced to lead and the ex-boyfriend who refused to participate in the charade. Unfortunately, every time Johnny tries to get close to the handsome ginger, something explodes or the earth shakes or lights blink out—and none of that is as sexy as it sounds.
Johnny doesn’t believe in ghosts, but he knows he has to get to the bottom of this haunting if he ever wants to get close to his biggest fan.

Our thoughts

Ryan is a big fan of the TV show Shadows and Souls and has been looking forward to ShadowCon for months. He’ll get to meet all the friends he’s made with the fans online and hopefully get to at least shake hands with the beautiful star of the show, Johnny Marlowe. When he arrives at the convention, he finds that the hotel has lost his reservation and of course they’re booked up for the weekend. But things immediately take a turn for the better when Johnny overhears Ryan’s predicament and offers him his extra room.

Johnny was looking forward to this weekend too. His show had been picked up for a second season and he was excited to meet the fans.  Not only that, he also had planned to spend time with his boyfriend at the beautiful hotel on Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately, Johnny no longer has a boyfriend which is why he has the extra room. His now ex was no longer willing to stay in the closet with Johnny.  What better way to distract himself from being lonely than by sharing a room next door to a big, handsome ginger. And even if Ryan isn’t gay at least he’s great eye candy.

But when these two start to explore their attraction things start to get really weird. Seems the hotel is haunted and the ghosts don’t like it when Ryan and Johnny start to get hot and heavy. Johnny may hunt ghosts on TV he has no idea how to deal with them in real life but he has to do something if he wants to get to know Ryan.

I really liked this story. It was fun and funny and Ryan is completely adorable. It’s short, so there’s not a lot of relationship development or background but it’s a sweet and hot beginning. They may only be together for a weekend but I really did feel the connection between them. The mystery with the ghosts was a bit predictable but I didn’t mind. I enjoyed the ride.

★★★★½ Tales of a Prison Bitch by Ethan Stone ★★★★½

Tales of a Prison Bitch

Ethan Stone

Publisher: Wilde City Press

 The blurb

Thomas Grayson is young, handsome and in prison. If he wants to survive he only has one choice—find someone who will take care of him. Neil Booker is perfect for the job, but Grayson must be willing to pay the price.

Grayson has never been with a man and isn’t thrilled about being a prison bitch but he’d rather be with Booker than be abused by other convicts. He takes to it easier than expected and actually enjoys his time with Booker.

The roles are changed when Booker is paroled and Grayson gets his own boytoy. However, he can’t forget about Booker, not even when he finally goes home.

Our thoughts

If you’re looking for a quick PWP read that’s smoke’n hot, wait what am I saying of course you are or you wouldn’t clicked on the book.  The title says it all Tales of a Prison Bitch is just that; one scene after the other on every page.  Ethan Stone did not hold back; I think there was only a couple of kinks he didn’t put into this little novella.

There isn’t a lot I can say about the actual story but there is a story and it ends with an HEA.   There is even a “pay it forward” sorta feel when Grayson goes from bitch to protector.
So if you have about 30 minutes of free time (give or take how often you stop to fan yourself) this is a nice little read that will hit all of your kink buttons and maybe even some you didn’t know you had. *wink*  4.5 stars!

★★★★ Never The Perfect Moment by K-Lee Klein ★★★★

Never The Perfect Moment

K-Lee Klein

Publisher: Amber Allure

The blurb

Bryan Monroe has always catalogued his life in terms of moments—right moments, wrong moments, perfect moments. But when his best friend and partner on the police force, Chrys Delos, is shot in a raid gone bad, it’s one of the worst moments of Bryan’s life.

Bryan’s been secretly in love with Chrys for years, and the shooting is a wake-up call that it might be time to tell Chrys the truth. The problem is, Bryan’s never been with a man before, so in addition to worrying about Chrys’ injuries, he’s an indecisive wreck over the future.

But with the help of two unlikely matchmakers, Bryan knows it’s time to find the courage, and the perfect moment, to tell Chrys exactly how he feels…

Our thoughts

4 stars

This is a great little short to get you out of a book slump.  Two cops. Best friends. One gay.  One straight.  As a ‘gay for you’ read it felt quite real.  We start the book where Bryan admits he has feelings for his best friend and cop partner Chrys, so we don’t go through the whole ‘coming to terms’ with it drama.  I loved the angle of this story – when is the perfect moment for Bryan to tell Chrys he loves him?  He desperately needs to tell Chrys how he feels but it’s never the right time.  When Chrys is shot in the shoulder and is recuperating at home, Bryan doesn’t tell him.  He kisses him instead.  Perfect moment.

“I’d have a lot of regrets.  Just because I haven’t been with a man before doesn’t mean I can’t be.  Do you want to know what I was thinking about earlier, you know, when you kissed me?”

“Hopefully kissing me again?”

Bryan moaned as he remembered.  “Throwing you against the wall.  Kissing you until you couldn’t breathe.”

Grab a cuppa and enjoy a lovely, full of emotion short read.
